PTAC delivers one of the most professional and confidence‑building training experiences I have ever had. I spent 35 years in Federal Service in Special Programs, Physical Security, Operations Security, and Counterintelligence and I can tell you I improved upon what decades of other training and experience had provided. From the moment I arrived, Kevin and his instructors made safety the top priority without ever making the environment feel intimidating. Their knowledge is deep, their teaching style is clear and patient, and they take the time to make sure every student understands not just how to handle a firearm, but why each safety principle matters. Keving and his instructors’ decades of hands-on and outside of the US experience shows in practical real-world guidance and how your movements can be more effective in any situation.
The personal protection training was equally impressive. PTAC doesn’t just teach skills, they teach mindset, awareness, and application in daily use. I left feeling more prepared, more confident, and knowing I am far more capable of protecting myself and those around me.
The rugged straight forward range is clean, well‑organized, and run with a level of professionalism that sets PTAC apart. Whether you’re a first‑time shooter or someone looking to sharpen advanced skills up-close or at a distance, PTAC is the place you want to be. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

PTAC gave me the confidence I needed to carry my weapon. As a new pistol owner, I was worried that in a bad situation I might do more harm than good. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and, most important to me, they did not make me feel uncomfortable because of my lack of experience. After each session they gave feedback specific to me and a few drills to focus on to move me in the right direction. I passed a 90% qualifier on just my second try! I never would have imagined I could draw and fire accurately with just a few sessions of instruction. Cannot recommend them enough.

I had a great experience training at this range and would highly recommend it to anyone from beginners to experienced shooters. Kevin and his sons are extremely knowledgeable and do an outstanding job breaking down techniques in a way that’s easy to understand and apply. Safety is clearly their top priority—they consistently emphasize and enforce fundamental firearm safety rules throughout the entire session. The outdoor range itself is well set up, with multiple lanes, solid shooting tables, varied distances out to 200 yards, and engaging features like steel targets and obstacles. The training was structured, professional, and genuinely helped improve my shooting skills. Overall, it’s a top-notch environment with a highly capable and experienced team. I will definitely be returning here for more training!

I am a recent student of PTAC. I have been around and handled firearms since I was a preteen. I was impressed with their approach in cultivating good firearm safety and handling techniques. Kevin and every one of his team were confident, personable and professional in the training I received. At one point I expressed an issue with my targeting . Kevin listened to my concern and then provided one on one time to help me overcome a bad habit that I had developed. I will use this technique going forward. I hope to have the opportunity to train with Kevin or any one of his team in the future as I recognize this skill set must always be practiced. The privilege to carry is a responsibility that should never be taken for granted.

PTAC in Richmond, Virginia delivers an exceptional experience for women seeking concealed carry training, and the quality of instruction truly sets them apart. Kevin Berger is, without question, the cornerstone of the experience. From the moment the class begins, Kevin’s attention to detail is evident. He does not rush through concepts or rely on surface-level explanations; instead, he methodically breaks down each component so it’s both understandable and practical.
Whether he’s explaining eye dominance, grip mechanics, or how to evaluate the weight and feel of a firearm, every point is delivered with clarity and purpose. His ability to translate complex ideas into logical, approachable steps makes the learning process feel natural, even for beginners.
What stands out most is Kevin’s calm and steady demeanor. He creates an environment where participants feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence at their own pace. There’s no pressure or intimidation; there's a highly supportive atmosphere that encourages growth.
Equally impressive is how personalized the experience feels. Despite being in a group setting, Kevin has a unique ability to make each participant feel like they are the sole focus of his attention. He offers genuine praise when it’s earned and pairs it with thoughtful, specific feedback that helps a student improve in tangible ways. I left not only feeling more confident, but also with a clear understanding of how to continue progressing.
If you’re considering a women’s concealed carry class, PTAC is an outstanding choice. Kevin Berger brings a rare combination of expertise, patience, and instructional precision that makes the entire experience both empowering and highly effective.
